The Harmful Effects of Refined Sugars and Refined Flour

Refined sugar is beyond unhealthy for us, and it is addictive. The more we eat, the more we want. And the more we eat, the less we can taste the natural sweetness in foods such as fruit. Naturally sweet foods become less attractive to us at the same time that our craving for refined sugar is increasing. It is a vicious circle that leads to certain decline in our health.

Problems Associated with Sugar Intake*

Tooth decay
Obesity and its increased risk of Diabetes, Cancer, and other diseases
Nutritional Deficiency-including anemia, protein and mineral deficiencies
Hypoglycemia and Carbohydrate imbalance
Chronic Dyspepsia and digestive problems
Immune Dysfunction and problems such as recurrent infections
Menstrual Irregularities & Premenstrual Symptoms (PMS)
Yeast Overgrowth and its many subsequent problems, including craving sweets and carbohydrates
Hyperactivity and difficulty concentrating
Alcoholism-a potential link as it is associated with hypoglycemia and abnormal carbohydrate metabolism
Mood swings, anxiety, depression
Heart Disease
*There is much evidence that eating too many sweets eventually causes disease. If these conditions occur in either your personal or family history, it is important to seriously consider a dietary change for your health’s sake.

My thoughts on this: Why wait until these conditions exist in your personal history. The overwhelming evidence is in. As a cancer survivor, I strongly recommend, don’t wait.

Because refined flour is just that, refined, it is nearly as harmful as refined sugar, because it enters the blood stream in the form of sugar, nearly as fast as refined sugar itself, and is void of most of its original nutritional value.

Additionally, both white sugar and white flour have been bleached with chlorine based bleaching agents, to achieve the pretty white color that we have come to think of as the norm.

Refined sugars and refined flour are disastrous to our health. They are void of nutrition, and lead to a myriad of health risks and diseases. These two items should be drastically reduced or even eliminated from your regular daily diet.

As I mentioned, sugar can be addictive, and can be difficult to rid your system of.
