Live Your Abundant Life

Must Have:

Green for Life by Victoria Boutenko

It is my opinion that without adequate greens, no diet, whole, raw or otherwise, is complete.  I consider it absolutely vital to understand the importance of greens and how to incorporate them into your diet in a delicious way.  Green for Life is by far the best book I know of on the subject.  Get this book!

Must Have:

The New Detox Diet: The Complete Guide for Lifelong Vitality With Recipes, Menus, and Detox Plans

This is an excellent book to gain a good broad understanding of the detoxification process, why it’s important, how to do it, and what you can expect as you go through the process.  I believe everyone needs a working understanding of this process that takes place in the body.

Must Have:

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People ~ by Stephen R. Covey

7 habits

This is an outstanding, life changing book if you read it and actually do the things it says.  I have owned this book for many years.  I don’t even know how many.  Well over 15 years, maybe closer to 20.  I have read it countless times.  There are exercises in this book that I do over and over again at different times in my life.  For many years, I did these exercises every year at the beginning of a new year.  I will be honest, this book is a bit of a dry read (Sorry Stephen) but it is beyond worth the read.  Get this book.  Read it, over and over again, and do the exercises until they become a habitual part of who you are!

My 3 favorite recipe books:

RAWvolution ~ by Matt Amsden

RAWvolution: Gourmet Living Cuisine

This is a great un-cook book for anyone beginning to add raw and living foods to their diet.  The recipes are straight forward and fairly simple.  Every recipe I have tried from this book has been good.  And I like that the author puts a “key” on each recipe so you can see, at a glance, the level of difficulty and if the recipe requires any special equipment (such as a food processor etc.)  I have used this book so much that my copy is literally falling apart at the seems.

Raw Food/Real World: 100 Recipes to Get the Glow

I love this recipe book. For me it is the next step after RAWvolution. The recipes are a little more advanced and are simply devine. Wonderful foods that you would love to serve to your family or for a lovely dinner party (even to those that don’t eat healthy) because they are just so fabulous.

Living on Live Food

Living on Live Food is a wonderful all-around recipe book. The first half of the book does a great job of explaining why raw foods are so wonderfully healthy for our bodies. The second half of the book is filled with a wide variety of recipes that give you a chance to try out different ingredients and techniques.

Other Great Books and resources  I highly recommend:

Rebuild Your Health (with Dr. Ann’s Living Foods Lifestyle(R))

Diabetes Without Drugs: The 5-Step Program to Control Blood Sugar Naturally and Prevent Diabetes Complications

This is the book that Jim was assigned as homework by Dr. Ng, our holistic doctor, after he was diagnosed with diabetes. Jim is diabetes free without drugs. He lives diabetes free by many of the principles he learned and incorporated from this book.

The Total Money Makeover ~ by Dave Ramsey

This is a fabulous book.  Dave Ramsey lays out a common sense, approach to financial freedom and true wealth building.  As he puts it, he gives you the advise that Grandma would give, only he keeps his teeth in.  Dave also has a radio show called the Dave Ramsey Show.  It’s worth finding out if it is broadcast in your area.   Also there are local and online classes through his Financial Peace University.

Simply raw open caseSimply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days

Simply Raw chronicles six Americans with diabetes who switch to a diet consisting entirely of vegan, organic, live, raw foods in order to reverse diabetes naturally. The participants are challenged to give up meat, dairy, sugar, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, soda, junk food, fast food, processed food, packaged food, and even cooked food – as well as go without their loved ones and many of their creature comforts – for 30 days.

The results are amazing!

Although this movie chronicles six people with diabetes the information is for everyone who wants to live a life of wellness and vibrant health – and it will amaze you!

Amish Peace: Simple Wisdom for a Complicated World

Amish peace is a delightful little book that I keep on my nightstand next to my bed. It has short little stories that warm my soul, delight my heart and impart a bit of simple wisdom. I love to read it before going to sleep at night.

Fresh Oil: Coming up From the Wilderness Volume 1

The music on this CD calms my heart, feeds my soul and brings me into a place of worship before my Lord. When life circumstances are challenging Jim and I will often turn to each other and simply say, “Track 9” which means lets stop for a bit and listen to track #9 on the Fresh Oil CD. It ministers to our souls.
